Rediscover the Houston Zoo: A behind the scenes look at the vaccine for elephant herpesvirus
Every day at the Houston Zoo, families can see the great care that goes into taking care of these animals. But, there's even more impressive work being done behind the scenes in a collaboration between the Houston Zoo and Baylor College of Medicine. Tessa set out to learn more about a breakthrough vaccine that has the potential to save elephants both in the zoo and possibly one day in the wild from the potentially deadly elephant herpes virus. Plus, it's always impressive to learn about all the things the Houston Zoo does in the fields of veterinary medicine, conservation, and education. Teaching guests about the animals inspires people to want to save them which is why Derrick and Anthony were joined by wildlife connections keeper Brian Stucky and a very special animal ambassador at the zoo.
