HOUSTON LIFE

A sweet journey into Filipino flavors in Texas with four generations of baking tradition

Jon Valerio, part of a four-generation baking family, continues a legacy  at The Baker’s Son's new Sugar Land location. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, the new Sugar Land store is the bakery's second location in Houston. Valerio describes the bakery's offerings as a delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors. Their empanadas showcase the Spanish influence in Filipino cuisine, while Ube, a sweet purple yam, adds its earthy sweetness and vibrant color to many favorites, including the Ube croissants. The Baker’s Son offers up to six different croissant flavors, such as almond and Valerio’s favorite, the Dubai chocolate croissant. Take a look inside the kitchen at The Baker's Son in Sugar Land in the video above.
