Go behind the scenes with the horses at the Sam Houston Race Park barn
Sam Houston Race Park is more than just a venue for thrilling horse races; it's a bustling community dedicated to the care and training of its equine athletes. Houston Life's Melanie Camp went behind-the-scenes Guy Smith, a retired jockey and current Horseman Relations Manager at Sam Houston Race Park. Smith introduced Sunlit Song, the 2023 Texas-bred "Horse of the Year," highlighting the beauty and value of the horses at the park. With over a thousand horses on-site during the racing season, the park is a hive of activity. The staff, many of whom live on-site, work tirelessly to ensure the horses' needs are met around the clock. Watch more in the video above 🐴❤️
