Facility dogs at Children's Memorial Hermann give young patients a reason to smile

KPRC 2 and our Community partners at Energy Transfer and Houston Christian University are proud to feature Harrison's Heroes. The nonprofit brings smiles to hospitalized children and their families by providing programs and activities in partnership with local hospitals.  At Children's Memorial Hermann, the Facility Dog program makes kids feel comfortable at a potentially stressful time and gives them a reason to smile. Pups like Dexter are able to interact with young patients to help them with therapy and to work toward recovery goals. Harrison's Heroes works with Child Life Specialists at Children's Memorial Hermann to enhance the program with the facility dog mailbox and a special custom coloring book.
