Rain chances are increasing in the Houston area as a coastal low and warm front move in, bringing light showers early and heavier rain from 9 a.m. into the evening.

A cold front is moving through Houston, bringing showers and storms, especially between 12 and 4 p.m., with the most significant rain predicted until 6 p.m.

The Houston area was getting pounded Monday afternoon with the rainfall rate around 4 inches an hour at 2 p.m., according to KPRC 2 Meteorologists Justin Stapleton and Caroline Brown.
