The American Red Cross has opened emergency shelters in Polk county for residents displaced by flooding from Tropical Depression Edouard.

All three suspects from Tuesday’s manhunt in Polk County are now in custody and law enforcement says it was all sparked by a chase involving a stolen truck out of Harris County.

The nonbinding legal opinion states local elected and appointed officials can receive up to $25,000 for work done during the COVID-19 pandemic on top of their regular salaries. Unlike other pay raises, these “premium pay” bonuses don’t need to be declared to the public ahead of time.

Cuties on Netflix. A grand jury in a small East Texas county has indicted media giant Netflix for promoting "Cuties," a French film about an 11-year-old Senegalese immigrant who joins a dance group. Babin publicly decried the French film as child pornography, and Cruz sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney General asking him to prosecute Netflix. The indictment, handed down late last month, came out of Tyler County — though the film has no apparent ties to Texas. “After hearing about the movie Cuties and watching it, I knew there was probable cause to believe it was criminal," Lucas Babin said in the release.
