Corral, Ole Miss take down No. 7 Indiana in Outback Bowl

The Ole Miss defense, which allowed 535.7 yards and 40.3 points per game during the regular season, came through with one more stop to clinch the school's first bowl win since beating Oklahoma State in the 2016 Sugar Bowl. leaving Indiana with an opportunity to pull out its first bowl win in nearly 30 years. The Hoosiers, who don't have a postseason win since the 1991 Copper Bowl bowl, drove to the Rebels 33 before stalling and turning it over on downs. The Big Ten logo was replaced by an Outback Bowl logo on jerseys, and the letters “LEO” were added to helmets. POLL IMPLICATIONSThe loss could cost Indiana what likely would have been a Top 10 finish in the final AP Poll.

No. 7 Indiana excited to be in Outback Bowl against Ole Miss

“We were definitely kind of bummed out about what happened with the New Year's Six bowl game, but we just kind of used that as fuel to the fire,” running back Stevie Scott III said. “It has been 29 years since we last won a bowl game,” quarterback Jack Tuttle said. The problem was a porous defense yielded 40.3 points and a nation’s-worst 535.7 yards per game in the team’s first season under Kiffin. In fact, it’s rare that Ole Miss is facing a Big Ten opponent at all. They haven’t faced a team from that league since beating Nebraska in the 2002 Independence Bowl.

AP All-Big Ten: Ohio State's Fields, Indiana's Allen honored

Fields led Ohio State to a 6-0 record and the No. 7 Indiana (6-1) to its highest ranking since 1967, knocking off three ranked teams along the way. Its only loss was 42-35 at Ohio State in a game that went down to the final play. u-QB — Justin Fields, Ohio State, 6-3, 228, Jr., Kennesaw, Georgia. C — Josh Myers, Ohio State, 6-5, 312, Jr., Miamisburg, Ohio.

Penix, Fryfogle, No. 10 Indiana blank Michigan State 24-0

Fryfogle had 11 catches for 200 yards — surpassing career highs he'd set just a week earlier — and the Hoosiers handled Michigan State 24-0 on Saturday. Michigan State was shut out at home for the first time since a 31-0 loss to Michigan in 1985. Michigan State: The Spartans have been hurt by turnovers in all three of their losses, and this was no exception. Lombardi isn't the only one to blame, but it was time for Michigan State to try another option at quarterback. “We thought it was some decision making early in the game," Michigan State coach Mel Tucker said.

No. 13 Indiana finally finds way to beat No. 23 Michigan

13 Indiana beat No. 23 Michigan 38-21 on Saturday for its first victory against the Wolverines in 33 years. It was the Hoosiers' first win against the Wolverines since Oct. 24, 1987, just their second in 41 games and only the second in the 21 games played at Memorial Stadium. The Wolverines (1-2) still don’t have a top-15 road win since beating Notre Dame in 2006. The loss to Indiana could turn up the pressure on coach Jim Harbaugh in his sixth season at Michigan.
