A mass “sickout” is planned across Houston ISD on Thursday, as parents, students and community members continue protesting the state takeover of the district.

Parents of students in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) organized a "sickout" protest against Superintendent Mike Miles' policies, expressing frustrations over the district's handling of potential ICE raids and pressure on teachers.

Parents from several schools protested by pulling their students out of school to protest the negative impact Superintendent Mike Miles' policies have on students, staff as well as the community.
