In a memo sent to the teams Monday after a conference call involving NFL and club executives, Goodell reiterated the need to adhere fully to all of the league's health and safety guidelines. “Protocol violations that result in virus spread requiring adjustments to the schedule or otherwise impacting other teams will result in additional financial and competitive discipline, including the adjustment or loss of draft choices or even the forfeit of a game,” Goodell wrote in the memo obtained by The Associated Press. Victory Monday.”The negative test results returned Sunday included New Orleans Saints fullback Michael Burton, who falsely tested positive on Saturday. The Saints learned of the positive test after leaving New Orleans for Sunday’s scheduled game in Detroit and ran another series of tests on players and staff overnight.

The Titans' outbreak is now at 20 cases, with 18 positive tests returned since Tuesday with the addition of Blasingame to the COVID-19/Reserve list on Monday. Sunday marked the sixth straight day that at least one member of the Titans’ organization has had a positive test result return.

The NFL first postponed, then rescheduled the Titans’ game set for Sunday against Pittsburgh to Oct. 25 during Tennessee's bye. But with continued testing still returning positive results that propect is at risk as is the Titans’ next scheduled game, Oct. 11 against the Buffalo Bills in Nashville.

The outbreak forced the NFL to postpone Tennessee's game from Sunday to Oct. 25 in Week 7, forcing the Steelers into their unplanned bye. Pittsburgh now will play Baltimore on Nov. 1 with the Ravens' bye now pushed to Week 7 instead of Week 8, which had been the bye for both teams. But another positive test result Thursday led to the postponement and Friday's rescheduling. Each new positive test requires the team’s infectious control officer to track down everyone in contact with those people.

The NFL postponed Sunday's game in Nashville after one additional Titans player and one personnel member tested positive for COVID-19. They had one positive test last Saturday with outside linebackers coach Shane Bowen, which prevented him from traveling with Tennessee to Minnesota for a 31-30 win. The NFL decided to postpone the game “to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel." For now both the Titans and Steelers went from game preparation to an unexpected bye and a chance to heal up some players.
