Tuesday is the final day for Texas families to apply for the state’s private school voucher program after a court-ordered extension pushed the deadline to March 31.

More than 500 private schools in the Houston area have been approved to participate in the Texas voucher program.

Texas families can begin applying today, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m., for the state’s new Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), also known as the school voucher program, which runs through March 17.

Texas families interested in school vouchers will soon be able to apply for what the state is calling Texas Education Freedom Accounts, according to documents obtained from the Texas Comptroller’s Office.
