Braves' Markakis hits walkoff HR after opting into season

Markakis was added to the active roster on Wednesday after changing his mind about sitting out the year. Bosox LHP Rodrguez out for year, inflamed heart from COVID
NEW YORK Boston Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodrguez will miss the entire season because of heart inflammation caused by COVID-19. The Red Sox said July 7 the the 27-year-old had tested positive for COVID-19. "Heres one of the best pitchers in the game last year and he's not able to perform on the field," Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke said. The Red Sox rotation includes Nathan Eovaldi, left-hander Martn Prez and Ryan Weber. This case, while its something that is persistent, is not something that has that has impacted or damaged the functioning of his heart, Bloom said.
Judge HR, Montgomery sharp, Yanks top Red Sox in home opener

Prez (0-1) lasted just five innings in his Red Sox debut, giving up five runs on six hits and walking two. The Red Sox were just 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position, stranding 10 runners on base.
