HOUSTON – The Houston Astros placed closer Roberto Osuna on waivers, KPRC 2 confirmed Thursday. Osuna joined the Astros during the 2018 season in a highly controversial deadline trade with Osuna serving a domestic violence suspension. Osuna pitched in parts of three seasons for Houston, pitching to a 2.45 ERA in 93 regular-season games with 51 saves. He racked up three postseason saves for the Astros but struggled to hold runners off the board. Osuna’s injury in 2020 kept him out for most of the year with him pitching in just four games.

One online poll found that nearly 70 percent of respondents believed the Astros should have a literal asterisk put next to their championship. On Sunday, Beistv.mx, a page dedicated to sharing baseball content in Spanish, shared this childhood photo of Astros pitchers Osuna and Urquidy on Facebook:The photo dates back 12 years, according to the Facebook post, which means the players were around 11 to 12 years old when it was taken. Osuna has been with the Astros since 2018. Urquidy made his professional major league baseball debut with the Astros in early July. He is the first Mexican native to matriculate through the Astros' farm system.

(CNN) - The Houston Astros' front office ought to be talking about World Series preparations after a thrilling weekend win. An editor's note atop the Sports Illustrated story said the Astros declined to comment before publication but denied the allegation after the story was published. Despite the Astros' front office denying Taubman addressed the women in the locker room, the Houston Chronicle's Hunter Atkins and Yahoo Sports' Hannah Keyser said they witnessed the exchange. The Astros awarded Taubman a multiyear contract extension last month, according to reports. The Astros placed Osuna on their active roster Aug. 5, 2018, the day after his suspension ended.
