Trump: 'King' to some in Pennsylvania, but will it help GOP?
The Trump-Pence sign still hangs on the older building off Main Street in this historic town, a lasting vestige of the campaign fervor that roused voters, including many who still believe the falsehood that the former president didn’t lose in 2020 and hope he'll run in 2024. The enthusiasm for Donald Trump’s unique brand of nationalist populism has cut into traditional Democratic strongholds like Monongahela, about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh, where brick storefronts and a Slovak fellowship hall dot Main Street and church bells mark the hours of the day. Republicans are counting on political nostalgia for the Trump era as they battle Democrats this fall in Pennsylvania in races for governor, the U.S. Senate and control of Congress.news.yahoo.com
Letters: Error noted
In the Sept. 22 editorial, “Let them speak,” there was one error we would like to have corrected. It was the Democratic candidate for Board of Education District 2 who called in sick and the Republican candidate for Texas Senate District 20 who called in sick, as he contracted COVID. McCarthy, who is poised to seize the speaker’s gavel if Republicans win control of the House in the fall, hopes to replicate the strategy that Speaker Newt Gingrich used to spark voter enthusiasm and sweep House control in a 1994 landslide.news.yahoo.com
Hispanics are merely political props for the GOP
Former President Trump gained much support due to his racist beliefs and rantings. He attempted to build his wall at the southern border and made it the symbol of his presidency. He brutalized immigrants and their children at the southern border with glee. Do we have a problem at the southern border? Meantime, the GOP not only does not include us, we are mere political props for them to use as their needs arise.myrgv.com

Trump's Ukraine impeachment shadows war, risks GOP response
Even the staunchest defense hawks in the Republican Party stood virtually united by Donald Trump’s side when the then-president was impeached in late 2019 after pressuring Ukraine’s leader for “a favor” and withholding $400 million in military aid.
