A new Tennessee law has eased up on two longstanding financial hurdles for people with felony sentences who want their voting rights back.

Tennessee’s top Republican lawmakers say they have no issue with the state’s strict policy on restoring voting rights for those convicted of a felony.

Tennessee Lt. Gov. Randy McNally says that he is “pausing” all social media activity after revelations that he repeatedly commented on posts of nearly nude photos of a young gay model and other LGBTQ personalities.

Republican leaders across Tennessee have largely maintained that the state’s abortion ban allows doctors to perform the procedure, should they need to save the life of the mother, even though the statute doesn’t explicitly say so.
