The U.S. Education Department says it is investigating dozens of universities for alleged racial discrimination, citing ties to a nonprofit organization that has helped Black and Latino students pursue business degrees.

The U.S. Department of Education announced on Friday that it is opening investigations into two Texas universities, including Houston’s Rice University, for allegedly engaging in race-exclusionary practices in their graduate programs.

The Texas universities are among dozens accused of violating the law by partnering with a group that had sought to increase diversity in graduate programs.
