Norman Johnson, 42, appeared in Harris County court for the first time after being charged with the murder of a Katy couple, Trinette and Christopher Lopez, last month. Johnson, related to Trinette and the biological father of the couple's 7-year-old adopted daughter, is suspected of committing the murders due to a child custody dispute. He allegedly drove from Austin, waited outside the Lopez home, and opened fire before fleeing. Johnson was later arrested on a separate warrant and linked to the murders through surveillance and toll records, and now faces capital murder charges with a court appearance scheduled to set his bail.
