The “Monday Night Football” presentation with Peyton and Eli Manning increased its viewership by 138% over last week's debut, becoming the most-watched alternate telecast in ESPN history. ESPN and Nielsen reported that the Mannings' freewheeling telecast of the Green Bay Packers' 35-17 victory over the Detroit Lions on ESPN2 averaged 1.9 million viewers. Little Richard song to introduce 'Monday Night Football'
ESPN is hoping that one of the architects of rock n' roll can bring some new energy to their “Monday Night Football” show with fewer fans in the stands this year. The new season starting Monday will feature a new version of Little Richard's hit “Rip It Up” featuring new instrumentals and backup vocals from the Virginia-based band Butcher Brown. The song replaces Hank Williams Jr.'s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," which was repurposed with new lyrics like, “All my rowdy friends are here for Monday night.”ESPN said in a press release on Friday that Little Richard's song will be combined with NFL and team highlights. “We’re truly excited to have teamed up with ESPN for this project, and are honored to have had the opportunity to work with the music of the King of Rock N’ Roll, Little Richard,” said Butcher Brown in a statement provided by ESPN. “Monday Night Football” will kick off with a doubleheader featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers playing New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans at the Denver Broncos.

"Star Wars" fans were taken back to a "galaxy far, far away" Monday night with a new trailer for the upcoming film, which is set to hit theaters December 20. Those watching the Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and New England Patriots were treated to the final trailer for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." And Luke Skywalker is heard telling Rey, "The force will be with you ... always" in a voice over. He's not the only "Star Wars" vet coming back to the franchise: Mark Hamill, Billie Lourd and even Carrie Fisher will appear in the upcoming film, according to director J.J. Abrams, who also helmed 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," followed by "The Last Jedi." Abrams is determined to button up this part of the "Star Wars" saga.cbsnews.com
Cheesehead ref billboard pops up after controversial football game

(WDIV) - A billboard showing a football referee wearing a cheesehead popped up along I-275 in Michigan as Detroit Lions fans continue to protest the officiating in the "Monday Night Football" game against the Green Bay Packers. At least one billboard in Metro Detroit has featured the image of a referee signaling an "illegal hands to the face" penalty while wearing the Packers' signature cheesehead, ClickOnDetroit reported Thursday. Sky 4 captured video of the billboard at about 4 p.m. Thursday along I-275 near 10 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan. In both instances, the "Monday Night Football" announcers, as well as fans and analysts across social media, disagreed with the calls. It's been three days, but obviously Lions fans haven't forgotten.
