Israel has killed multiple senior officials with Hamas and its regional allies since the deadly Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led militants in southern Israel that triggered the war in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the man believed to be the head of Hamas’ armed wing, Mohammed Sinwar, has been killed, apparently confirming his death in a recent strike in the Gaza Strip.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least one Palestinian was killed and 48 were wounded when gunshots were fired on a crowd that overran a new aid distribution site in the war-battered enclave that was set up by an Israeli and U.S.-backed foundation.

As a ceasefire brought calm to Gaza’s ruined cities, Hamas was quick to emerge from hiding.
