Chef Val Cantú and his team at Californios in San Francisco have earned a historic third Michelin star, the first for a Mexican restaurant worldwide.

KPRC 2’s Sofia Ojeda interviewed Chef Emmanuel Chavez of TATEMO, one of six Houston-area restaurants recently awarded a Michelin one-star rating. Chef Chavez, who rediscovered his passion for cooking in Houston, emphasizes the cultural importance of maize in Mexican cuisine.

The Michelin Guide held its inaugural star ceremony in Texas, awarding stars to top restaurants across the state, including Houston.
