Lucas Pinheiro Braathen has won a men’s World Cup slalom to give Brazil its first-ever victory in a top-level ski race less than three months before the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.

Olympic champion Marco Odermatt held off a challenge by home crowd favorite Marco Schwarz to win the season-opening men’s World Cup giant slalom in the Austrian Alps.
