Which grocery delivery service is least expensive with the fewest errors?
HOUSTON โ The coronavirus pandemic pushed many families to try grocery delivery services for the first time. For instance, we wanted 1 pound of bananas but not every service makes it easy to specify 1 banana or 1 pound of bananas. When one store delivered far more bananas and 18 eggs instead of a dozen, it messed up the sample. In these instances, we threw those items out of our test, counting only the same items from store to store. This makes it easier for you to see which store charges more for certain items as well as the varying delivery fees.
Gig workers face shifting roles, competition in pandemic
I started to juggle three apps to make ends meet, said Okawa, who recently reduced her work hours after receiving unemployment benefits. She said she enjoys the flexibility of choosing her own hours but hopes not to have to turn to gig work in the future. Gig workers are also jockeying for those jobs from all fronts. DoorDash launched an initiative to help out-of-work restaurant workers sign up for delivery work. But that $600 benefit will expire at the end of July, and the $2 trillion government relief package that extended unemployment benefits to gig workers expires at the end of the year.
Instacart changes policy in effort to curb practice of tip baiting
Instacart is making changes to its tipping policy in an apparent effort to curb the practice of "tip baiting" on its grocery-delivery app following a report from CNN Business. In the blog post, Instacart said that "less than 0.5% of all Instacart orders have tips removed after delivery. The policy changes come one week after four Democratic senators called for federal regulators to investigate the controversial practice of "tip baiting" on grocery-delivery app Instacart following the CNN Business report. When asked about the letter last week, Instacart told CNN Business that the vast majority of people adjust their tip upward or do not adjust their tip at all after delivery. An Instacart worker previously told CNN Business tip baiting was "very demoralizing."
