Jordanian soccer player Rabe’e Ata Juma’a Alqaq went missing from Rice University during the Genuine Cup, prompting a search after he left campus without notice. Alqaq later revealed he traveled by bus to Chicago after a friend's suggestion, unaware of the concern caused due to lack of internet access.

A Jordanian soccer player who disappeared while visiting Houston for the Genuine Cup, an international soccer tournament for athletes with disabilities, has been found safe in the Chicago area, according to Rice University officials.

Rice University police are asking for the public’s help locating a Jordanian athlete who went missing while participating in the Genuine Cup, an international soccer tournament for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

From July 29 through August 1, Rice University will transform into the home base for 38 inclusive soccer teams from 23 different countries. These “Genuine Teams” are made up of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including autism.
