The security guard at Camp Mystic the night of last year’s deadly flood has acknowledged that if there was a general evacuation order early in the storm, lives could've been saved.

The director of the Texas summer camp where 27 campers and counselors were killed by a devastating flood in 2025 said he did not see early federal and state warnings sent the day before the storm hit and that staff had no meetings about the pending danger.

Texas health regulators have told Camp Mystic’s owners they are investigating hundreds of complaints following last year’s deadly floods that killed 27 girls.

A Texas judge has ordered Camp Mystic to preserve damaged cabins and other parts of the grounds hit by last year’s catastrophic flood that swept away and killed 25 girls and two counselors.
