The parents of the only girl still missing from the July flood at Camp Mystic in Texas are demanding the camp halt its reopening plans.

Federal regulators repeatedly granted appeals to remove Camp Mystic’s buildings from their 100-year flood map, as the camp operated and expanded in a dangerous flood plain in the years before rushing waters swept away children and counselors.

For decades, Camp Mystic has been a destination where Texan girls learn skills beyond the usual camp itinerary. Sure, fishing and crafts are common activities for Mystic campers, but the true magic of Camp Mystic comes from the character lessons that the camp instills.
