Jaguars poised to spend big, rebuild quickly in free agency

Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. It certainly should help that the Jaguars have more salary cap space (nearly $73 million) than any other team. (AP Photo/Jay LaPrete, File)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. Clemson star Trevor Lawrence is the presumptive choice, and the Jaguars will use free agency to build around him. “That’s a room that’s going to have to be rebuilt in some ways,” said Meyer, who could sign Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith or Gerald Everett when free agency officially begins Wednesday.

Scaled-back Thanksgiving plans leave turkey farmers in limbo

Many turkey farmers are worried their biggest birds won't end up on Thanksgiving tables. Fewer people at Thanksgiving tables means many families will buy smaller turkeys, or none at all. That leaves anxious turkey farmers and grocers scrambling to predict what people will want on their holiday tables. It’s a gamble, because the birds gain a lot of fat and flavor in their final few weeks, but she figures customers will want smaller birds. Butterball — which typically sells 30% of America’s 40 million Thanksgiving turkeys — said it’s expecting more gatherings, but it’s not convinced people will want smaller turkeys.

Nigeria’s police order massive mobilization after unrest

Nigeria's president says 51 civilians have been killed in unrest following days of peaceful protests over police abuses, and he blames "hooliganism" for the violence while asserting that security forces have used "extreme restraint. Navigating by mango trees, pink houses in rural Puerto Rico

Postal worker Jose Montoya does his rounds in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020. Directions can involve a mango tree, or a bakery or a house of a certain color. Without an address, emergency responders cannot find people quickly or deliver basic supplies or medical care when up to 60% of homes in some municipalities lack one. As president of La Unión community, Martínez held a vote on potential street names.
