TxDOT and the UIL are calling on Texas teens to take the “Saved by the Belt” pledge after 132 unbuckled young people died in crashes in 2024.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s “Click It or Ticket” campaign is in its 20th year.

HOUSTON – The enforcement period for TxDOT’s statewide “Click It or Ticket” campaign begins Monday. From Monday to Nov. 29, state troopers, police officers and sheriffs' deputies statewide will step up enforcement of the state’s seat belt and child car seat laws. As a nod to those celebrating #Movember for men's health, we mustache you to also wear your seat belt. Although around 9% of Texans do not wear a seat belt, the lack of seat belt usage was reported in 42% of traffic fatalities for those people who had the option to use a seat belt (excluding pedestrian, bicycle and motorcycle fatalities). Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of dying by 45% for people in the front seat of passenger cars.
