Michael Cohen hopes to accept the offer to work on the committees behalf, attorney Danya Perry told U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein in a letter aimed at ensuring the judge does not object. Cohen, 53, began serving the sentence in May 2019 after pleading guilty to campaign finance fraud and lying to Congress, among other charges.

Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to campaign finance charges and lying to Congress, among other crimes. He said he worked openly on his manuscript until May at Otisvilles prison library and discussed his book with prison officials.
Judge rejects Harvey Weinsteins $19 million settlement with accusers
A federal judge in New York has rejected a proposed $19 million settlement for the women who accused former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual abuse and harassment. The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement that it will "review the decision and determine next steps." "We were surprised that class counsel and the New York Attorney General did not recognize this fact but are pleased that Judge Hellerstein swiftly rejected the one-sided proposal," he added. "On behalf of our clients, we look forward to pursuing justice against Harvey Weinstein and his many enablers." In a statement, Weinstein's attorney, Imran Ansari, said his client's "current and future financial state is far from healthy."
