The man indicted for the murder of an Afghan refugee over a parking spot in April appeared in court Tuesday morning after being issued a summons to appear.

A tragic incident where 31-year-old Abdul Rahman Waziri was shot and killed following an argument over parking will now be referred to a grand jury for review, according to Houston police.

In a gathering outside the Houston Police Department, community leaders and family members called for immediate action in the fatal shooting of Abdul Rahman Waziri, a former Afghan military trainer who had resettled in Houston after aiding U.S. forces.
