Leigha McNeil is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who joined KPRC 2 as a traffic anchor and reporter, helping Houstonians navigate one of the busiest and most complex transportation networks in the country.

Before coming to Houston, Leigha worked at WWL-TV in New Orleans, where she served as a morning reporter and traffic anchor. Her experience includes breaking news, community-focused reporting and stories that directly impact viewers’ daily lives.

Leigha began her broadcast career while attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. She started as a production assistant before quickly advancing to weekend anchor and multimedia journalist.

She later moved to Waco, Texas, where she worked as a weekend anchor and multimedia journalist. During her time there, Leigha covered major stories including the murder of Vanessa Guillen and co-created the Emmy-winning Black History Month special Uncovering Our History.

Leigha joined WWL-TV in 2022 as a morning reporter and later became a traffic anchor and reporter, combining her journalism experience with information viewers could use to start their day.

At KPRC 2, Leigha is focused on doing the same for Greater Houston. In a region where construction, crashes, weather and road closures can quickly change a commute, she helps viewers understand not only what’s happening on the roads, but what they can do about it.

For Leigha, traffic coverage is another way to serve the audience - providing timely, relevant information that helps Houstonians make better decisions before they head out the door.

Leigha is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
