Nicole Nielsen

If something is affecting your wallet, your safety, or your neighborhood, Nicole Nielsen is the kind of reporter who goes straight to the people dealing with it.

She focuses on stories where something’s at stake: neighbors trying to fix a problem, build something better, or recover after something goes wrong. The stories you can feel and the ones that show you what’s actually happening and what to do next.

A Dallas native, Nicole spent six years reporting at KTVT CBS News Texas, where she learned how to move fast without losing what matters. That means finding the real angle quickly, earning trust, and making sure the people at the center of the story are the ones you hear from.

Her work is driven by impact. In one investigation, Nicole exposed a wedding photographer who scammed brides out of thousands of dollars by failing to show up, sending replacement photographers, and never paying them. After her reporting aired, a deputy who had also been a victim launched an investigation that led to a felony charge, a guilty plea, and restitution for the victims.

For Nicole, that’s the standard—did someone get answers, did something get fixed, did it make a difference?

Now in Houston , she sees a city full of news, but not always enough coverage that reaches every corner. Her focus is making sure people feel heard and that you’re getting a clear picture of what’s happening across the city.

Outside of work, she keeps it simple—getting outside for a walk (usually with a Diet Coke), or trying a new recipe or restaurant.
