Houston Rockets face Warriors on NBA Opening Night, Thunder on Christmas Day

HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets will be featured on national TV in two NBA prime-time games this season.

The Rockets will travel to Golden State to take on the Warriors on Opening Night, October 17. The Warriors will receive their 2016-17 championship rings before the game, which tips-off at 9:30 p.m. CT.

Houston will also be on the road when they battle the Oklahoma City Thunder on Christmas Day. Tip-off is 7 p.m. CT. The game is one of five that will air on the holiday.

The Oct. 17 start is the earliest start to the season since 1980-81.

The complete season schedule will be announced next week.

Here's the full Opening Week and Christmas Day schedules:

Tues., Oct. 17: Celtics at Cavaliers, 7 p.m. CT
Tues., Oct. 17: Rockets at Warriors, 9:30 p.m. CT
Wed., Oct. 18: 76ers at Wizards, 6 p.m. CT
Wed., Oct. 18: Timberwolves at Spurs, 8:30 p.m. CT
Thu., Oct. 19: Knicks at Thunder, 7 p.m. CT
Thu., Oct. 19: Clippers at Lakers, 9:30 p.m. CT
Fri., Oct. 20: Cavaliers at Bucks, 6 p.m. CT
Fri., Oct. 20: Warriors at Pelicans, 8:30 p.m. CT

Mon., Dec. 25: 76ers at Knicks, 11 a.m. CT
Mon., Dec. 25: Cavaliers at Warriors, 2 p.m. CT
Mon., Dec. 25: Wizards at Celtics, 4:30 p.m. CT
Mon., Dec. 25: Rockets at Thunder, 7 p.m. CT
