HOUSTON – The Texans added a major cornerstone to their overhauled offensive line by agreeing to terms with veteran former Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle on a two-year, $25 million deal, per a league source.

The deal includes $13.5 million guaranteed, including an $8.5 million signing bonus, per a source.

Smith is represented by Michael Perrett of Priority Sports.

By adding Smith, the Texans have added an experienced, proven blocking presence to their rebuilding offensive line.

Smith, 29, is a former Colts second-round draft pick from Auburn who has started 105 of 107 career games played for Indianapolis.

Smith is a tall, technically sound tackle at 6-foot-6, 312 pounds.

A former all-rookie selection, Smith started 13 games last season before suffering a concussion and a neck injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Two years ago, Smith was diagnosed with a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder called religious scrupulosity that forced him to miss the final five games of the 2024 season and nearly drove him into retirement. He bravely battled back as he traveled to Mexico for treatment before returning to the United States and devoting himself to therapy. He leans heavily on his religious faith and his family, his wife and son.

A native of Olathe, Kansas, Smith was an All-American at Auburn who won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the top blocker in the Southeastern Conference.
