Rice women’s basketball is 16-3, on an 11-game winning streak, and undefeated vs. American Conference opponents

Senior guard Dominique Ennis hit six three-point shots against Tulane

HOUSTON – The Rice women’s basketball program has tied its best start to a season through the first 19 games with a 16-3 record and 6-0 in the Owls’ American Conference schedule.

Adding on top of that success is an 11-game winning streak, which has the Owls aware of not getting too ahead of themselves.

“Our motto this year, T.N.T, Today Not Tomorrow, not looking so far into the future, trying to stay in the moment, so doing every drill hard, every possession hard, and just like our will to want to get better,” said sophomore guard and Cypress Lakes High School alum, Aniah Alexis.

One of the best performances from this season came from senior guard Dominique Ennis, A.K.A “Dom,” who hit six three-pointers against Tulane and finished with a career-high 26 points.

“I always say all the glory goes to my teammates; they find me in the right spots at the right times, so without them I wouldn’t be getting the shots I am,” said Ennis.

“I mean, Dom’s elite, I’ve been with her all four years that I’ve been here, she works really hard, she’s always in the gym putting up shots, she works for everything that she gets so I’m just so proud of her and excited to see all that she has going for her this year,” said senior center Shelby Hayes.

The Owls will host Tulane on Saturday at 1 p.m.
