Source: Texans re-signing corner Ameer Speed to practice squad

HOUSTON – The Texans are re-signing cornerback Ameer Speed to the practice squad after he cleared waivers Monday, per a league source.

Speed was previously promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

He played in a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Speed was elevated from the practice squad for a victory over the Indianapolis Colts, contributing on special teams.

Speed worked out for the Texans previously before being signed to the practice squad initially. He has two tackles this season.

Speed, 26, is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound former Patriots sixth round draft pick.

He has also played for the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

Speed won a national championship at Georgia.

In the NFL, Speed has 11 career tackles. He has primarily played on special teams.
