Texans awarded defensive tackle Naquon Jones off waivers, waived Jalen Mills

HOUSTON – The Texans have a new defensive tackle to bolster depth after placing defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. on injured reserve after undergoing season-ending foot surgery.

They were awarded defensive tackle Naquan Jones off waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers, and waived safety Jalen Mills.

Jones (6-foot-3, 313 pounds) has played in 56 career games with eight starts, recording 99 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks, 12 tackles for losses and nine quarterback hits.

Jones, 27, has previous stints with the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles.

He recorded 10 tackles, one for a loss and one pass deflection in eight games for the Chargers.
