HOUSTON – For Texans nickel Jalen Pitre, Kids Meals Inc. is an extremely special place and organization.
Spending time at their new Houston location, the Stafford graduate helped prepare meals alongside former Texans Pro Bowl offensive guard Wade Smith.

“We need to continue to back Kids Meals, because they’re backing our future,” Pitre said. “I’m glad I was here to talk about the next initiatives and everything they’ve got going on.”
The Texans Texans and TDECU announced a Red Zone partnership. Every time the Texans enter the TDECU Red Zone, $300 will be donated to Kids’ Meals, which provides 150 meals.
This year, Kids’ Meals will deliver more than 3.4 million free, healthy meals to the homes of food-insecure children who face hunger due to extreme poverty. Kids’ Meals is the only program of its kind in the nation delivering more than 10,000 free, healthy meals every weekday to 56 Houston-area zip codes. Pitre, the Texans’ 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, is a devoted advocate for Kids’ Meals.
“There’s a need in this community,” Smith said. “There’s some help that is necessary. The fact that Kids Meals and TDECU and the Houston Texans are stepping up to bridge that gap, it[s awesome. It shows the kind of city that Houston is. These kids are innocent. Tey can grow up to be whatever they want to be.”
