HOUSTON – Texas A&M cornerback B.J. Mayes is participating in the Texans’ local prospect day Friday, per a league source.

The Heights graduate ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference with four interceptions last season, leading the Aggies defense.

He has a top 30 visit with the Indianapolis Colts, per a league source.

At his campus Pro Day workout, Mayes wsa 6-foot 4/8, 187 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He had a 30 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 9-10 broad jump, a 4.15 short shuttle, a 6.98 three-cone drill and bench pressed 225 pounds 10 times.

Mayes is an Alabama-Birmingham transfer who began his career at the University of Incarnate Word. He had 53 tackles and one interception in two seasons in San Antonio. For UAB, he had 10 pass breakups to lead the team and had 41 tackles, two interceptions.

At the Heights, he had four interceptions.
