HOUSTON – When it comes to running crisp routes and finding a seam in the defense, Ohio University wide receiver Coleman Owen is mastering the slot position.

Owen, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 to 4.51 seconds at his Pro Day where he talked with the Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals, is set to participate in the Cardinals’ local prospect day Friday.

Owen, who had a 4.06 short shuttle and a 6.82 three-cone drill, broke the school single-season record with 1,245 yards last season with eight touchdown catches on 78 receptions

The Northern Arizona transfer also returned a punt for a touchdown last season and averaged 16 yards per catch.

“I felt good,” Owen told KPRC 2. “It was really fun to go out there and do it after so much training and preparation. They’re getting a guy who knows how to come in and work hard. Being a former walk-on at my last school, I know how it feels to come in and put my head down and work and contribute any way I can. That’s the kind of guy I am.”

Owen is completing his degree in business administration, but he’s foregoing that industry for now as he pursues an NFL career.

“I’d like to open up my own financial planning firm one day,” Owen said. “It’s something I want to do one day.”

“I’m excited for it,” Owen said.

At his Pro Day, Owen talked to the Cardinals, Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins.

“I feel like I can bring a lot to the table,” Owen said.

At Northern Arizona, Owen was a second-team All-Big Sky selection and a freshman All-American.

Deeply religious, Owen spends his time away from football reflecting in prayer.

“I’m a firm believe in Jesus Christ and I show my faith to everyone and my love of Christ,” Owen said. “I’m very involved in the community. Inside the locker room, I helped lead bible studies for Athletes in Action, a Christian organization. I just trust God every day and I come in and I do the work. I put my head down and I control what I can control.”
