Astros trade IF Grae Kessinger to D-Backs for local prospect

The Houston Astros traded utility infielder Grae Kessinger to the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitching prospect Matthew Linskey, two sources confirm to KPRC 2 Sports.
Kessinger was recently designated for assignment, removing him from the 40-man roster after the Astros signed first baseman Christian Walker.

Linskey is a graduate of Atascocita High School and played college baseball at Rice University. Linskey struck out 51 batters in 32.1 innings in 22 games across three levels in 2024. Linskey made it to high-A by the end of the season.
Kessinger finishes his Astros career with 48 games played, usually as a defensive replacement. Kessinger took 70 plate appearances in the majors, hitting .131 with 1 home run and 1 RBI.
