HOUSTON – The Texans signed former Denver Broncos defensive end Marcus Haynes to a reserve-future deal, adding him to their offseason roster.

Haynes went undrafted out of Old Dominion and signed with the Broncos, joining their practice squad after he didn’t make the 53-man roster.

In three preseason games, he had five tackles and one pass deflection.

Haynes (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) had 5 1/2 sacks and a forced fumble as a junior and four sacks, 47 tackles and one forced fumble as a senior.

He’s a longer edge player with a some twitchiness and has an outside linebacker background. Haynes has some upside and just needs to continue to get stronger and work on his pass rushing technique.
