HOUSTON – The Texans are hiring San Francisco 49ers defensive quality control coach Stephen Adegoke as their new safeties coach, according to league sources.

Adegoke replaces Joe Danna, who was hired by the Buffalo Bills as safeties coach.

Adegoke, previously with the University of Michigan, Florida and Mississippi State where he played defensive back, joins former 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans’ staff with the AFC South franchise along with former 49ers chief of staff Nick Kray along with new defensive coordinator Matt Burke, previously the Arizona Cardinals defensive line coach, and retained special teams coordinator Frank Ross and head strength and conditioning coach Mike Eubanks.

The Texans interviewed former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury on Friday for their offensive coordinator job and have also interviewed 49ers passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik, Cincinnati Bengals receivers coach Troy Walters and Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, according to league sources.
