Source: Texans signing wide receiver D.J. Montgomery

HOUSTON – The Texans are signing wide receiver D.J. Montgomery to their practice squad, per a league source.

Montgomery visited the Texans on Tuesday. Texans practice squad wide receiver Jalen Camp has an oblique injury.

Montgomery has three career receptions for 36 yards.

Montgomery, 26, has played for the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets. He went undrafted out of Austin Peay where he caught 42 passes for 797 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior.

Montgomery played for the Browns in 2019, spending one season there on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

He was claimed off waivers by the Jets in 2020 and spent the next two seasons on their practice squad

He was with the Colts in training camp this year.
