Free agent pitcher Dallas Keuchel declines Astros qualifying offer

HOUSTON – The Astros offseason will be full of decisions and potential roster changes. One includes pitcher Dallas Keuchel.

On Monday, the team was informed, as expected, that the free agent pitcher has declined the Astros' one-year qualifying offer of $17.9 million for the 2019 season.  Today was the deadline for players who had received qualifying offers to accept or choose to decline their offers.

If Keuchel signs a Major League contract with another club, the Astros will receive a compensation draft pick following Competitive Balance Round B in the 2019 draft.

The Astros are facing an uncertain offseason with free agents such as Keuchel, along with Marwin Gonzalez, Charlie Morton and Evan Gattis.
