HOUSTON – Kate Upton has received a lot of credit for making the Astros rainbow sweater a must-have fashion piece for fans. But she is not the only Houston celebrity to wear it.
Check out who was spotted wearing the sweater over the weekend: Steve Francis! The Houston Rockets legend did an autograph signing at R&A Sports in Conroe on Friday evening. Owner Rich Mendenhall said Francis fell in love with the sweater when he saw it at the store, so he bought it. Mendenhall said Francis planned to wear it during one of the ALCS games at Minute Maid Park this week.
Bun B is one of the most loyal Astros fans on the planet. In fact, he is hosting a watch party/pop-up shop for game 2 of the ALCS at 8th Wonder Brewery. So given his love for the 'Stros, it wasn't a surprise to see him sporting the retro sweater during the World Series last year. He posted a photo on his Instagram page. (Also included in that photo - Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. Two Houston favorites in one picture…supporting the Astros...what could be better?!?)
And did you know Kam Franklin had the sweater before Upton? The Suffers lead singer wore it while singing the National Anthem at an Astros game on August 24, 2017 (about a week before Justin Verlander officially became part of the Houston Astros). Franklin's Instagram post that day is what initially sparked this KPRC 2 producer's obsession with the sweater.
