Love and baseball: Astros players show their romantic sides

HOUSTON – Today isn’t just the one-month anniversary of the Astros World Series win, it’s also when the world fell in love with Carlos Correa.

He proposed to his girlfriend on live television right after the Game 7 win. We want to celebrate that romantic moment by showing you some of the Astros greatest love stories.

Carlos Correa and Daniella Rodriguez

The entire world saw the moment Correa got down on one knee and proposed to Daniella Rodriguez. And their backstory is equally sweet and adorable.

It appears they first crossed paths last year when Rodriguez, as Miss Texas USA 2016, threw out the first pitch at a game at Minute Maid Park. Her pitch was way off, but her connection with Correa was right on target. A few months later, they went public with their romance. And the rest is history.

They are obviously madly in love with each other, and frequently post about it on their social media platforms.

Justin Verlander and Kate Upton

It has been a whirlwind couple of months for this famous couple. Verlander was traded to the Astros from the Detroit Tigers just seconds before the waiver-trade deadline on August 31. Then, he helped Houston win its first World Series in history. Days later, Verlander and Upton became husband and wife in a romantic Tuscan wedding. Their love story dates back to 2012, when they met during a commercial shoot for the video game MLB 2K12.

George Springer and Charlise Castro

The next Astros wedding is next month. George Springer and his longtime love, Charlise Castro, are set to exchange vows on January 20.

He proposed last December in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico. The Astros sent out a congratulations tweet soon after the team got word of the engagement.

As for their backstory, they met while Castro was playing international softball. Yep, she’s an MVP herself. The 25-year-old from Saugerties, New York, was a star on the softball field in high school and then at the University of Albany. She also played for Puerto Rico’s national team.

Jose and Nina Altuve

The American League MVP and his lady love have been together for more than a decade. Last year, Altuve posted a picture on Instagram for the couple’s 10th anniversary. So that means they’ve been together 11 years.

If you’re doing the math (Altuve is 27 years old) that means this precious pair has been together since they were teenagers. Could they be any sweeter?

Now they are sharing their love with a little Atluve. The couple had their first child last year. Melonie Andrea turned one during the World Series.

Lance and Kara McCullers

I dare you to find a cooler, hipper, sweeter couple than this one.

The McCullers are not shy about showing off their love for each other- or their dogs- on social media, and we are so grateful for that.

From his Paris proposal in 2014, to their stunning wedding in 2015, the couple has given fans a front-row seat to their storybook romance. They even posted pictures from their whirlwind honeymoon that took them through Italy.

As for how they met, that has not appeared to be reported publicly anywhere… so Lance, Kara, if you want to share how your love story began, KPRC 2 would love to share the details. Hint, hint (give us a call)!

Alex Bregman and ???

There doesn't appear to be love story brewing for the Astros third baseman…yet. But he’s definitely looking. In fact, he is hoping Verlander’s new bride will help him out in the romance department. He told US Weekly, “I was just asking Kate when we clinched to go to the World Series, ‘Hey can you hook me up with one of your friends or something?’”

The 23-year-old New Mexico native and LSU graduate isn’t putting all his eggs in one basket though. If Kate doesn't come through, it looks like he may try to catch the eyes of a Victoria Secret angel. He tweeted this on Tuesday night:

Anyone got a possible love match for Bregman?"

We figure there are probably a few (thousand) Houston women who might be interested. We got you, Breg.
