Ridge Point High football team raises money for flood victims at rival school Dickinson High

Sam Vitanza Stadium is home to the Dickinson Gators.  While the football field is ready to go, the Harvey cleanup process is ongoing just feet from the field. It’s the reason Ridge Point High School football moms wanted to do something special before Friday night’s game between the two schools.

During every lunch period since Tuesday, football moms at Ridge Point High collected not only sympathy cards, but gift cards for Dickinson students and their families who were affected by the storm.

The parents asked Dickinson's head coach John Snelson, who had three feet of water in his own home, what would help the most, and he said money. They decided to give gift cards collected cards from Whataburger, Home Depot, Walmart and Target.

Ridge Point plans to donate the gifts cards before the game. Dickinson High will choose how they are distributed to students and families.
