I have no doubt as to what will happen next when it comes to Brock Osweiler. He will land somewhere and be the next budding superstar. Yep, it will be a football version of the Bagwell trade.Â
The Bosox let a Hall of Famer get away. Houston got to benefit from the deal. We are still celebrating another deal. The big experiment was like your first day in chemistry lab. Something blew up and you weren't quite sure how it happened. How many of you blamed Rick Smith for everything until he got out from under the bus with a draft pick going to Cleveland. The Browns are our best buds. So you think. Rick Smith didn't change much. He got lucky. Lucky because towns fire coaches and general managers, and quarterbacks. The owner just gets to be in front of the cameras.
This town made fun of Brock from day three. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in days 1 and 2. But now he has thrown away his Houston critics and is off to be the next Aaron Rodgers or Matt Ryan. I don't see him Brady-like. Not yet. In 10 years Brock will have thrown over 100 tds with just single digit picks. He will throw for over 4,000 yards in 7 consecutive seasons. His jersey will be worn by every kid in whatever town he ends up playing in.
Here in Houston the fans will have turned. "Why did the Texans give up on him after only one year?" reads every headline.
