Call it in the air

Sunday is the BIG GAME. If this comes as a surprise or you perhaps don't know what I am writing about, I understand.

This is only the 51st time it has happened and in today's busy world you can't be expected to know everything. I once flew to Miami, interviewed Tom Landry and several Cowboys at their hotel pool and then flew back home and didn't watch their game with the Steelers. I went to a movie that afternoon. There I have confessed. I missed SB XIII. It wasn't crowded at the movie that late afternoon in 1979. It wasn't as if I would tape it and watch later. I didn't have a VCR. I just had been fed up with all the hype and decided to skip the nonsense. It was one of the top games ever. The Steelers won it over Dallas 35-31. Terry Bradshaw was the MVP. I can't remember what movie I saw that day.

I like that the Patriots always call HEADS when they get to call the coin flip. They will be the visitors Sunday and will indeed call Heads. In case you wonder how the AFC AND THE NFC are doing against each other, it is a close one. The NFC has won 26 times. The AFC 24.  The stat was altered to include the first 2 games which weren't called "SUPER BOWL".  That moniker came after the 1969 season so the first "super bowl" was actually in 1970.  Aren't you glad I cleared up any confusion. We have yet to declare the day a holiday but it already is no. 2 in the all time eating dept. More food is consumed on Thanksgiving but it is getting closer each year.

I am more concerned with making Super Monday a holiday. The game is always dragged out for about 5 hours and by the time your Uncle Harry has finished the bottle of expensive Scotch you hid from him, you have no interest in working the next day. Me either.
