Daily Craig: The votes are in today

HOUSTON – Scott Kazmir is the man of the hour and the year. The Houston kid from Cy Falls High School decided he would take the heat off himself and his family. Yes, he decided to take the $32 million the Dodgers had offered him some time ago. He was not interested in free agency. What a great American. At 32, he had to decide whether the $32 million would get him through his career or would he make a deal with his seventh big league team. Nope, it was stay the course for the lefty hardly anyone would recognize in public.

The Dodgers did get 10 wins out of him last season. The deal he signed was for $48 million, that included an $11 million signing bonus. He is an ex-Astro who did little here but made major headlines by trying a season with the Sugar Land Skeeters and then transitioning to the Cleveland Indians and the rest is money history. He is 108-96 so he is a winner. We all should take stock in this. A sore neck and chest spasms later, he is set in Los Angeles.

He will get $16 million in each of the next two years, unless, of course, he decides to give the Skeeters another run. I bet not.
