Daily Craig: It's happening again

HOUSTON – As expected, the Texans beat the Bears. The locals were supposed to win and they did. The loyal fan base wore their Liberty White and whatever else had a Texans logo on it.

There were hundreds of Bears fans in the building too. They saw what they have seen for years. Jay Cutler sort of being a fairly decent quarterback. The Texans critics (goodness knows there are thousands of them) also saw what they have seen for years. A darned good defense. What they also saw was a pretty darned good offense. I know, I know it is Week 1. One sprained ankle or sore shoulder of Brock "The Touchdown Doc" and we will all return to those less than thrilling days of yesteryear.

The running back was good, the kid from Notre Dame dropped a sure thing, but also caught a not so sure thing, so that was a wash. JJ was back but looked as if he had lost a step and was gassed between downs. Of course, having your ab muscles sewed back on and having your back rearranged would put most of us in a full body cast for two years. He was still better than most of those trying to block him. Mercilus has the right last name and John Simon looked sharp. I do have one major complaint. Of course I do.

With the Bears wearing their home uniforms and the Texans wearing the traveling whites, I did get confused early. But, like most of you, I got over it. Now let's see if the team can get some revenge on those dudes from K.C. We owe them a few lumps.
